Mas Martinet was founded in 1986 when Josep Luis Perez bought the property. It is one of the founding group of privately owned wineries that brought Priorat into prominence as a fine wine region in the 80s. Today, his daughter, Sara, runs the estate. Mas Martinet practices minimal intervention in viticulture and vinification. They cultivate 25 hectares of vines organically. All grapes are handpicked and fermented using indigenous yeast.
*Priorat is one of only two DOCa’ s (highest) wine classifications in Spain. It is known for its unique infertile llicorella slate soils, high summer temperatures, and large diurnal variation between day and night temperatures, which helps preserves acidity. This results in intensely concentrated wines with deep colour and lively acidity that can age beautifully.
