The Marsannay Clos du Roy is one of the 14 vineyards that has been nominated for
premier cru classification. The vines are planted on a steep slope facing east protected from the wind on limestone soils. The vines were planted between 1945 and 2000. This wine has 50% whole clusters and is aged in 600 and 228L oak barrels, around 25% new for 12 months. It is then blended and then held for another 6 months to marry the blend before release. A structured wine that can age with aromas of black cherry, plum with integrated oak spice, smooth tannins and bright acidity. The beauty of Laurent’s wines is that he manages to capture the seductive aromas of Pinot Noir with good intensity and
concentration on the palate which asserts that Marsannay from Domaine Jean Fournier is
worthy of your attention.
