
Torrential rainfall triggered catastrophic floods in Western Germany, Germany’s Ahr Valley is among the worst-hit areas. Ahr is one of the top German Pinot Noir wine growing area. The floods have destroyed numerous wineries. At least 117 died in the floods.

The rain caused rivers to overrun their banks and flooded villages. A lot of wineries were destroyed, among them is our Ahr producer Meyer Nakel, a leading Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir) producer in Germany.
This barrel from Meyer Nakel was carried away 2km from where the winery stood.
