Domaine Jean Fournier was created in the 1960s by Jean Fournier and was taken over by his son Laurent in 2003. The domaine is located in Marsannay which is at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits. It is an appellation that makes white, red and rosé, with fourteen premier crus sites nominated, it is a region of importance as consumers are searching for better value in Burgundy.
When Jean took over the winery in 2003, he started farming his 22 hectares organically and is now in conversion to biodynamic farming. He uses horses instead of machines in the field and hand cuts the tops of vines; the attentiveness to quality is reflected in the wines.
